Coastal...Cool...Qupe
We focus on crafting balanced & delicious wines from some of the best cool-climate vineyards along the Central Coast - From Arroyo Grande, to Santa Maria, Santa Ynez, and Sta. Rita Hills. These sunny sites are cooled naturally by cold, ocean-influenced breezes that sweep through the transverse valleys every afternoon. We work exclusively with sandy, gravelly, well-drained vineyard blocks across our entire range of wines. This ensures tiny, flavor-packed, concentrated berries with great fruit intensity and balanced natural acidity. Qupe...Cool since 1982!

Full malolactic fermentation in French Oak is encourage through gentle lees stirring. The resulting Chardonnay is a rich, decadent, yet balanced, Burgundian inspired white with notes of white flower, stone fruit, lemon, toasted brioche and a touch of vanilla.
2021 Qupe Syrah Central Coast
A blend of primarily hillside grown Syrah from 25+ year old vines in Arroyo Grande, and some stunning Syrah from along Alisos Canyon, Santa Ynez & Ballard Canyon. The soils are all sand over limestone which ensures amazing concentration, fruit intensity, and balanced natural acidity. All the Syrah is picked block by block at optimum ripeness in the dark of night to ensure cold, crunchy fruit arrives at the winery. Most lots are sorted and destemmed, while others are fermented whole cluster. After 10-21 days on skins, the wines are pressed to a mix of new and nuetral French Oak barrels for 18 months of aging. Flavors and aromas are ripe cherry, raspberry, purple flowers, garrique, olive brine, and toasty french oak.
